Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage) that KOANimation Studios uses, and the choices you have. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

The short version

We keep this deliberately minimal. We use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies to keep you signed in and keep the app secure. Our analytics are cookieless — they set no cookies and collect no personal data. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell data to anyone.

Categories we use

1. Strictly necessary (always on)

These are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off from within the app. They do not require consent under the ePrivacy rules because the service you asked for can’t work without them.

• Authentication session — set by our auth provider (Supabase) to keep you logged in across pages. Without it you would be signed out on every navigation.
• Security / CSRF — protects forms and account actions against cross-site request forgery.

2. Preferences (local storage, not cookies)

Stored in your browser’s local storage rather than sent to our servers as cookies. They remember small choices so the studio behaves the way you left it:

• Cookie choice (koan-cookie-consent) — remembers whether you accepted or refused optional cookies so the banner doesn’t nag you again.
• Studio UI state — e.g. your last lab, draft prompts, and canvas drafts, so you don’t lose work on refresh.

3. Analytics (cookieless)

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to understand aggregate traffic, traffic sources, and real-user page-load performance. These are privacy-respecting and do not set cookies or build a profile of you across sites. Because they store nothing on your device, they run without a consent gate. If we ever add analytics or marketing tools that do set cookies, they will load only after you choose “Accept” on the cookie banner.

Your choices

• The cookie banner. On your first visit you can Accept or Refuse optional cookies. We default to refused — nothing optional loads until you opt in.
• Change your mind any time from your account settings.
• Your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Note that blocking the strictly-necessary cookies will sign you out and may break parts of the studio.

Changes to this policy
